A late Victorian collection of earlier and contemporary autographs, the album with approx. 30pp of clipped autograph signatures, including William Wilberforce (1759-1833), the abolitionist of the Slave Trade; James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth
(1649-1685), illegitimate son of Charles, later beheaded for treason; Charles Talbot, 1st Duke of Shrewsbury (1660-1718); a letter front only, simply addressed to The Lord Byron, ?by Grey; Edward Carson (1854-1935), the Marquess of Queensbury's defence barrister against Oscar Wilde's libel case; FitzRoy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan (1788-1855), Commander of British troops in the Crimean War; Salisbury, presumably the late Victorian Prime Minister; Vice-Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour (1759-1801), naval officer of the American and French Revolutionary Wars; Richard Temple, presumably the Colonial administrator in India (1826-1902); Lt.-Col. Charles Edmond Knox (1846-1938), various others, including some royal interest (St. James's Palace writing-paper, ALS from George (?Duke of Cambridge), further loose early 20th century signatures, loosely-inserted manuscript ephemera, photographic prints of CDVs, etc., contemporary specimen timber album, the walnut covers pierced and carved in relief, each centred by an entwined monogram, morocco back, 4to, [1]
