A pair of Worcester scallop shell three-section pickle dishes or sweetmeat stands, encrusted overall in the high Rococo taste with various seashells, corals and seaweed, vividly picked out in bright tones, the reservoirs painted in polychrome enamels with country flowers in bloom, each dish or stand centred by a marine cornucopia picked out in alternating tones to its counterpart, gilt rims, shaped bases, 11cm high, 16cm wide, c.1768-70 (2) The modelled shells were probably the work of John Toulouse who moved to Worcester from the Chelsea factory when it closed in 1768. A conforming three-tier centrepiece was sold in these rooms, The Single-Owner Worcester Sale: Part 2, 26th September 2018, Lot 398; another three-tier centrepiece was sold at Bonhams, The Zorensky Collection: Part I, 16th March 2004, Lot 220.
