A 19th century dog collar, inscribed A.E.B, Sydnope Hall, near Matlock, Derbyshire, 9.5cm diam
A E B was Mrs. Avice Elizabeth Barrow (née May) who married Richard Bridgman Barrow DL JP, a Staveley ironmaster, in 1836. They bought Sydnope Hall, Two Dales, in 1858 and she died in 1866, pinning the collar down to that 8-year period. The house and estate were sold in 1922.
