£500 - £600

A delightful classical two-tier cast iron garden fountain, of a medium size, the finial is a seated putto holding a large fish, from which water would traditionally jet into the upper round bowl, below, three naturalistically modelled dolphins or similar aquatic creatures form the central column, their tails entwined around the pillar and their bodies curving outwards, in the manner of a classical Georgian water feature motif, the lower basin is a wide, shallowly-dished round bowl with petal-edged rim, all in a green bronze verdigris colour finish, 130cm high, 90cm wide, 205kg, and with more compact proportions, this fountain is an excellent choice for a courtyard, walled garden or smaller terrace where a large fountain would overwhelm
Please note that all lots in this auction are held offsite and collection would be from Windsor Classical Gardens in Datchet (SL3) and would be strictly by appointment arranged through Bamfords Auctioneers on 01332 210000.
