A 19th century French Palais Royale gilt-metal mounted mother-of-pearl aide-memoire, each rectangular panel carved in relief with a scrolling shell reserve within a shaped frame of garland swags, S-scrolls, trailing bellhusks and anthemions, enclosing a notebook and a silk-lined purse sleeve, flanked by a propelling pencil within a spring frame, the gilt-metal borders cast with flowerheads and scrolls, 8.7cm long, c.1870
