Michelin Tyres - an early 20th century promotional model, Bibendum the Michelin Man, seated, holding a mug of coffee, brackets to verso, 47cm high The Michelin Man was first introduced at the 1894 Lyon Exhibition after the Michelin brothers saw a pile of tyres which suggested the form of a man at an earlier exhibition. Also known as Bibendum, Bib, Bibelobis and Denis Dunlop, he is one of the worlds oldest trademarks.
