A George III oak and mahogany longcase clock, 32cm arched painted dial, inscribed Hallam, Nottingham, Roman numerals, the arch painted with a scene from the Ancient world, flowers to spandrels, date aperture, 30-hour movement striking on a bell, the hood with swan neck pediment, shaped rectangular door to waist, plinth base, 211cm high, c.1815 Thomas Hallam was born 1781 was apprenticed to his uncle John Hallam of Nottingham at 48 Bridlesmith Gate, which premises he bought when John retired in 1819. He was working, latterly with his son Thomas until 1864.
