A 19th century German Baronial oak longcase clock, 25cm gadrooned convex dial with inset Roman numerals in shaped enamel plaque, twin-winding holes, eight-day movement striking on a bell, the cresting boldly carved with a ferocious lion mask, urnular finials and acanthus-capped scrolls, dart-and-egg frieze, the hood with bestial scrolling brackets, the door carved in relief with a Teutonic warrior surmounted a coat of arms, half-length putti 'caryatids' holding their attributes, the base with monogrammed cipher and motto, lion paw feet, 215cm high, c. 1880
