A George III oak longcase clock, 32cm square painted dial inscribed Suggate, Halesworth, Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, twin winding holes, 8-day movement striking on a bell, the hood with naive swan neck pediment, shaped rectangular door to waist flanked by reeded quarter-columns, 207cm high, c.1810 George Suggate/Southgate (1764-1839) set up in Halesworth (Suffolk) in 1785 and worked, latterly also as a jeweller and silversmith, until c. 1830.
