The Reverend Mathew W Peters (d.1814) Portrait of Miss Connolly, with bullfinch on her finger and flowers held in her apron oil on canvas, 99cm x 65cm The Reverend Matthew W Peters was a painter and engraver born in the Isle of White, Hampshire, in the first half of the 19th century He travelled and painted with Robert West in Ireland and later entered into the Holy Order and became chaplain to The Prince Regent. He was made an associate of the Royal Academy in 1777 and full academician in 1790 Purchased from Richard Green, Jermyn Street, London by the vendors late father 6th November 1962 for £300
