Major General Sir John Hanbury Williams (1859 - 1946) served as Military Secretary to the Secretary of State for War, During World War I he headed the British mission to Russia, having direct access to Tsar Nicholas II. He also served on the International Olympic Committee, representing Canada between 1911 and 1921. In later life he lived in an apartment in the Henry III Tower at Windsor Castle.
