A Victorian Hopton Wood stone fire surround, quarried from Middleton-by-Wirksworth, Derbyshire, carved with a bountiful arrangement of fruit and flowers, the jambs applied with acanthus scroll brackets, 118.5cm high, 194cm wide, 35cm deep, c.1850

Hopton Wood has been used in notable buildings such as the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Chatsworth House. It was also chosen by Margaret Thatcher for the entrance hall flooring in her Belgravia home where she resided for over 20 years until her death.

Please note: the photographs were supplied by the vendor, still situated in a house. It has since been removed and in five individual components; the mantel, two jambs, the apron and a rectangular support.
