British Military "Bar on Band" Enfield Short Percussion Cap Rifle. Working action. 83cm long barrel. Lock marked 1860 and Tower with Crown VR. Barrel with British military proof marks. Stock with Board of Ordnance roundel. Overall length 124cm. Production did not commence until 1859 and it was soon superseded the Pattern 1860 short rifle, only a few thousand of the "bar on band" variants were produced. A scarce British military service rifle with low production figures and a very limited service life. NOTE: Section 58 (2) No licence required in the UK.
