A 19th century pewter public house or tavern table top tobacco jar, the domed cover with ring handle inscribed Ye Olde Seven Stars, Withy Grove, enclosing a lead weight, shallow galleried circular base, 16cm high, the base 24cm diameter, c.1870

In 1877 the Seven Stars Inn, situated on Withy Grove, had been licensed for over 500 years. It was at the time the oldest public house in England.
