Toys From The Attic Part II - Americana & The Great Depression - a pair of 1930's national costume dolls, in Polish Krakow dress, comprising a gentleman and a lady, each with moulded and painted 'composite' heads, partially stuffed cloth bodies with painted 'composite' lower arms and lower legs, each 46cm and 44cm high (2)

These dolls are probably Work Progress Administration (WPA) dolls that were produced in the United States during the Depression years. The aim of the program was to provide jobs and therefore stimulate the economy with production of items such as children's toys.
