A large Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus Trogontherii) tooth and tusk sections, Middle Pleistocene period (approximately 500,000-800,000BC); Two sections of fossilized cycad (possibly 200,000,000 years old)
Discovered in Hoveringham gravel pits

A rare Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus antiquus) lower tusk, teeth and section of jawbone, Pleistocene period (approximately 250,000 to 500,000BC)
Discovered in Southwell whilst working on the sewage developments. found below the gravel layer in a thick black silt

A Stone Age deer antler flint knapping hammer; a fossilized shark's tooth
Discovered in the Trent River during dredging

A section of fossilized ammonite; a devil's toenail
Discovered during works on the A1 bypass

The items in this collection were discovered over a 40-year period from the mid 1960's onwards by Keith Marriott while undertaking works of civil engineering and dredging. These are the final fossils in his collection after several donations to local museums.
